HATS// The Cherry On Top

Hats complete any occasional outfit whether it be a wedding, a day at the races, lunch at the ritz perhaps but, nowadays and just recently this summer has seen hats take more of an important role to any outfit for any occasion even if you're roaming around london's trendy streets with a maxi dress on, a shaggy stripy top and a trilby.

If the hats fits... Wear it.

As soon as I put a hat on I get into character. I have never liked the idea of wearing hats because I feel conscious in them however, I bought one recently from asos.com. It holds understated glamour and its great for bad hair days. Hats create an alto ego. When I think of women who wear them, starlets like Grace Kelly spring to mind and then I think surely, ''I can't wear a hat unless I'm meeting the Queen,'' but no you can wear one anytime because if the hat fits, wear it! A hat naturally hides yours face, it gives you a sense of security and mystery... They give you extra authority and they are eye catching and attention seeking. Stunning accessories - The cheery on top. Don't be afraid to wear that that.... These girls are certainly not just popping to the streets.... surely not?

(Literally on my toes for this photo. Later on I changed into a pair of heels I keep in my locker! Those heels may have saved my short sweet ass!)

Buzzing Back to Back Stage//

Read between my lips//

I LOVE taking pictures backstage. Documenting and watching; from my eyes and through my lens, the transformation the models go through from pretty pretty to beautiful in their each individual way. There is always a great mixed up atmosphere in this environment and I get a great buzz from it. Nerves are gradually rising as it all seems quite calm for now as the models take their places under the make up artist palette with bare skin and a twinkle in their eye that carries them on and off the catwalk! Once all the lipstick, eyebrow dust & if necessary fake eye curtains are applied to the cats... it is time for the air to be fuelled with hairspray and time for the hair rollers to jump off and let the tumbling hair bounce away.... Whilst this was all going on... there's little me (5ft-not-model-height.com-3inches) floating around the harshly lit room trying not to trip up on cables everywhere, chairs & feet documenting the make up and hair team put together a canvas of summer catwalk trends and colours!

One of the reasons why I really enjoy this type of fashion photography is because I can escape into the background and get to see it from different point of view.. my point of view... taking pictures of what it is like before the cats start walking and before the twinkle in their eyes gets effected by the big lights, audience, critics and other photographers. The pictures come from a natural and raw beginning.

All the models were scouted through the website Model Mayhem. They each had their individual look whether it be vintage, urban/edgy, french, classic, english rose etc.... I was nervous this morning on my way to work but listening to an album of Seiji with sick, pumpin' bassy beats, I was well in the mood to kick some arse... (I recommend tracks such as The King & I Can't Let It Go) Its good to have nerves also, it gives you a buzz to succeed I believe.

I don't use my camera enough and don't get a lot of opportunity but when opportunity does spring from being a bit mouthy and getting to know whats going on with who and where in the right places at the right time, you have to grab that opportunity!!!!

MORE PICTURES COMING SOON// Hope you like them... let me know what you think.....
