'mind the dubstep'

R U READY READY LONDON? R. U. READY?

Not sure what relevance these snap shots of London's night life have to this post but, this post is just what I was thinking and what was going through my mind at the time. Perhaps the grime and gritty nature of dubstep is compatible with the raw reality of these kids showing off their talents on the streets to earn a few pennies?!

They placed out their hats before the bows,
In hope that the audience would lend them a few pounds...

DUB ST....EP.
If you live in a hole then you will not have heard about this music. Get over it. It is popular for a reason. Times are changing fast just like the music business & the digital world we live in so, surely we need a soundtrack to match. Its up to you to chose it.

Listen to this - James Blake. If you are a true music fan and not someone who follows a particular genre because you think it won't last and it's 'cool' for now, (its not) then you will appreciate it for what it is for yourself and shouldn't get caught up in the network argument of 'WHAT genre does this tune belong to' then you will probably hear more from this name and enjoy his work...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQoQirZwxE4 chill oooout!!!

Going back a few years - Burial - he has always been an inspiration to me. I came across him in my first year of uni... so long ago it seems now. 3 years in fact. Check his stuff out, both albums of his are worth a down to the load. You hear a lot of different things about this artist - back in 2007 I heard only 6 people in the entire world knew who Burial was. This I thought, was amazing as I wondered how an artist of this business would manage to stay away from the press eating, blog loving, snap happy socialites of today. (nothing wrong with those kind of people of course) I'm sure its a different story now. I also heard he makes his tracks using vocals he has recorded through telephones and walls - definitely different.

The vocals on all his tracks are unique and alluring. His work reaches your conscience easily & every song has meaning that real people can relate to, some covering real life issues. You can tell this just from the titles of certain tracks. Not any of his song titles are riddles like his contemporaries Blake or Joy Orbison but, that's just their individual ways of speaking out.

I have learnt that if a song or tune reminds you of someone then they have made an impact on your life, be it good or bad. Listening to Burial certainly haunts me... but I can't help but listen.

F*CK THE CLOCK

I give you, Secret Garden Party-ing.

OOOooo how polite - Swedish dubstep.

Ray lost his glasses. But, Abi found them.

Looking good. But, 'normal' compared to some...

Lads out on the pull.

NO 'time' to sleep...

human canvas.

I got talking. To an NME photographer. Damn should have got his number/email...

Gavlaaaah. I think I, I think I, I think I like it....

BEST value for money and meaning festival going. GO. See you next year.

Most pictures shouldn't need words. This certainly was a magical fantastical place. A place to come and forget about the outside world.

No time for sleeping not even when you eventually get the tent to stand on its own. There was too much to see and do.
Making stuff, tents.
Floating stages - jakwob - where we slowly moved to his dubstep beats. It was a joyful & an ecstatic feeling, however running out of energy as it was nearly time to go home, well, once we have found the car...
Glitter.
The Whip
David Rodigan - legend.
Marina - she aint no robot.
Beans on toast & cheeeese from the tea n toast van - such luxury at 3am Friday morning which was still our first night there.
The fastest EVER ferris wheel.
Lakes
Kidnap Alice -
Funny folk, queer folk, just Folk music.
Bands hanging from trees.
Cider & sun.
WATERRRR.
Saturday was the big night. Dress up - the theme FACT OR FICTION. We chose Kelts & Arabian Nights. Fireworks. The giant ship in the middle of the lake is set on fire. Lanterns in the sky. Make a wish.
More glitter.
I never found my cousin.
Dance off.
Mud fights.
GAVIN.
Flirty dirty phone tents
A massive lorry that turned up 8am every morning to dee-poo the porter loo's, I know how considerate. What made it funny was the guy doing it blaring out Lionel Richie tunes.
Champagne cocktails, which must have had some 'special potion' in it seeing as we couldn't move after one glass. WASTED.
I cant be bothered to say anymore....

You just have to go and see it all for yourselves!
