snowmau5? nomau5! Deadmau5...

Tesco van // someone was determined to have their food delivered.

Which way from here....

No city sky line in sight yet...

Phone box for a possible SOS // First sign of London.

I need a yellow brick road not a Narnia...

Stranded cars. The beginning of my journey for Joel. The car with the lights on was skidding up the hill as I left. It rolled back down but, eventually made it. So calm down, there was no need to pack up your car with twenty litres of water and seventy loaves of bread. That's probably why your car didn't make it.

Fancy a dip?

This is where I sat like an orphan waiting for her parents! YES IT WAS THAT SAD. haha!

//18th DECEMBER 2010//

We had booked tkts for Deadmau5 at Earls Court months ago; It was the perfect way to celebrate my birthday. What was also exciting was he was supported by Magnetic Man, Zane Lowe & others... the last few weeks leading up to this event I was excited. Put all your excitment together for birthdays, weddings, christmas eve, tooth fairy visits annnnd going to see one of your favourite dj's... that is how extreme my excitment levels were.

NO, THING, NOTHING, was going to stop me from getting there... until the sky decided to throw down at least 7inches of white chunky sherbet that would, in a few hours prevent the world (England) to carry on. I swear New York and Finland get more snow (20") yet they seem to carry on eating mcdonalds and reindeer? England on the other hand... comes. to. a halt. STOOOOP what you are doing, don't even try and leave your house, don't even try a pair or wellies on and most certainly do not try and send my birthday card in the post, cos you WILL DIE. But definitely come to London from Paris for what should be a sick night out!

For the last two years the snow has tried to put my birthday celebrations on hold. Luckily it has never ruined it but I really did think it had been ruined this time. I sat on my bed nearly in tears calling around friends and family who had all been 'snowed in' and who had cancelled their attendance with Joel Zimmerman, Benga, Skream, Artwork & Zane etc etc...I didnt know whether to laugh or cry. All these big acts that were possibly not going to make my ears bleed with, with their bass and wobbles!! (crying, not laughing now...)

I still hadnt heard from Tabs who was coming from Paris for one night as she is au paring over there at the moment!! I had her tkt, so if my friend was going to make it from PARIS...I, WAS going to make it from Rickmansworth. but Lexie had told me that she wrote on my wastebook wall,'KAT! PLEASE BRING EYE LASH GLUE,' (the very least of my worries) So, she was definitive about coming to see the mau5 and the magentic men. I had to do this. Even try as I had Tabs tkt... Just imagine how awful that would be, if she had to pretend to rave outside earls court with her suit case, full of french children (joke, it just had lots of soap in it) because I couldnt get there... bad Kat.

I had to wash my hair. In desperate times comes small desperate mesures of vanity. I started washing my hair and the water got colder and colder and colder... was the snow fucking me up even more and getting into the pipes.... then all the lights went out. POWER CUT and No internet connection also my phone was dying and now I could not charge it.

Great. Wet hair. No heating. No communication devices. A very nearly dead mau5 and no magnetic force even trying to get me to Earls court.... it was looking like a bad day.

My mum was determined for me to go and tried to get the neighbour to drive me to the station in the the Landrover. Jerry was pretending to be deaf in that moment I think. ** My dad came in from trying to drive... 'Kid, you aint going no where.' DOOMED.

I had to get there.

In meantime I still had wet hair. My mum came up with the genius (slightly crazy) idea for me to put the gas hobs on and dry my hair, as I had only washed the front bits.... IT WORKED. I dried my hair standing over the gas hob. So, ten singed hair minutes later.... I was chucking on any clothes I could find. Any clothes I wouldnt mind being seen spread across the news paper....

"Girl, on way to Deadmau5 gig found dead as she tried walking to london in WEDGE WELLIES in 7 inches of snow, because, she had to get there(dickhead)."

Well, I didnt have any other suitable shoes or flat, normal wellies. Wedge wellies and five layers it was. And an over night bag. And my camera, of course.

TRIP MD//OLYMPUS

a very good Kat. After one hour of walking from my house to the station (which is normally a five minute car ride) numb feet, one small thumbed lift to an end of a road, I was sitting on the train on my way to big smoke... to catch a mau5. It took me four hours to get to Clapham Junction, it normally takes me an hour. A very worth it journey. I am very glad I decided to walk in the snow...

WE MADE IT. But, Tabs was still on here way....

It was in fact Earls court. Not Arls...

Thank You Ed Coleman / x

Lately I have been very lucky to be put in contact with Sarah Cresswell; a very talented and established fashion photographer.

I cant say Thank you Ed enough for this opportunity (NonZero Productions -http://www.nonzeroproductions.com/). Who knows what the future holds... hopefully me holding my camera a lot.

http://www.sarahcresswell.com/ check out her portfolio.

A couple of weeks back I was standing in Liverpool Street station. It was 11/11/2010. I'm quite good at embarrassing myself. As I picked up a call in the middle of the station...'Hiii Mum!!!' I realised I could only hear the sound of my high pitch voice. Looking around seeing everyone stood still with luggage, briefcases, going places outfits, tourists, city workers and me, a small girl with her portfolio in hand and a big gob on! In time, me and mum shared the last minute of the silence in silence together, on the phone. It was a very bizarre surreal experience as a small very busy part of London stood still and remembered. London stands still for no one, but for those two minutes London showed a lot of respect. In the middle of London in the silence, it was like someone had pressed pause on the VHS player, and I was the scrappy bit that kept jumping and making noise.

I met Sarah in one of those places where you sit and watch the world go by and drink a sweet coffee drink, or where you request 'take out' and rush around the world spilling all of the hot syrup on your hands. Money well spent. (The stale muffins are the best) For once I was not watching the world go by, I was listening amazed (with my mouth shut of course) to what Sarah had to tell me. She looked at my portfolio and gave me some sound advice! It was really good to meet her and I couldn't really believe I was sitting in megabucks drinking a coffee with a woman who I aspire to be like 'when i grow up.' wow.

Sarah rode off on her bike and I got back on the tube to work.... back to life, back to reality.

A week or so on from the loud silence, I got a call from Sarah. She was getting rid of some old lighting that she got given years ago. She wanted to see if I could take it off her. Erm... well, can't really say thanks but No thanks. (YES YES I WILL) Once again couldn't believe my ears and grabbed the opportunity. I got the train to Angel to her house and she set the lights up for me and gave me a little tutorial! It was very cool and me and my big eyes got some learning did and trust me, there is a lot more to be did & done....

In conclusion I learnt you had to DUMP it and Katherine got very excited because she met Sarah Cresswell again, was even more lucky enough to go to her house and have a light session and out of this I got a soft box (that was used on Lily Cole when Sarah was just starting with her photography). What is more exciting is I will hopefully be assisting Sarah on some studio time and on her shoots!!!

// INTERN- girl //

I have always wanted to have the title Intern for a while. I'm not sure why, maybe because I relate it to the big things in life like the movies & new york?! Ah New York....................................................... oh sorry, I went off into a daydream there...

I spent a few weeks with a film production company called Clearhead Media based in The Hat Factory in Luton. The Hat Factory is a really cool building full of arts and production companies. I really enjoyed my time with Clearhead and met some great people! I assisted on shoots some days and most days were spent in the office! I'm just trying to put my finger in some pies, metaphorically speaking as it all looks good on the c.v. I also showed off my portfolio & everyone has been impressed so far...

From here on out I am trying to get in touch with as many photographers/people to show my portfolio as possible. Now I have a job, yes a j.o.b, shock horror. I can't wait to hand over my sort code.

& Enjoy x
